Clancy first made his mark in 2020 with his debut album The Path, a collection of intimate folk songs that introduced audiences to his warm, earthy vocal tones and intricate fingerstyle guitar.
Now, five years on, he has released his second record, Live Our Own Dream. It brings together acoustic folk in the tradition of Nick Drake with strong ties to Irish roots music.
Known for his versatility, he builds on the foundation of guitar and voice on the album with piano, organ, synth and pedal steel guitar.
His latest album features a host of talented guest musicians, including Nicola Joyce of The Whileaways on vocals, Maria Ryan on strings, and Eamon Murray of Beoga on drums.
Songs such as ‘Hear Your Name’ and ‘When We Say Goodbye’ explore love and loss with heartfelt honesty, while tracks like ‘The Faltering Flame’ carry a wider message of peace and empowerment.
With his confessional songwriting style, Clancy’s music has drawn comparisons to a young Luka Bloom at his most tender. Delivered in emotive tones with his Galway accent, the songs are both personal and universal, as the singer invites listeners to find their own meaning in them.
Clancy will be joined by his band, including Fergal Scahill on fiddle, Eoin Wynne on banjo, guitar and vocals, Conor McCreanor on double bass and Matthew Berril on sax and clarinet. Support is from Darragh O’Dea.
