Swimming is an essential life survival skill

Every child should be able to swim. People do not realise that children from as young as three years of age can and do learn to swim. At Braemor Swimming Summer School they also become confident and very competent when swimming in deep water. Swimming also promotes health, fitness, fun, and relaxation.

Children should continue to attend classes until they reach a level where they can swim 10 lengths of a 20 metre pool. They then have every chance of survival should the need arise. The advanced class this year will include an introduction to life saving class.

At weekends children take part in numerous water sports, eg, surfing, canoeing, sailing, rowing, windsurfing, and swimming in the sea. Parents should ask themselves, “Is my child safe around water? Would they be able to save themselves and not depend on others should unforeseen circumstances occur?"

Braemor Swimming Club has been running successful children’s classes in Clarenbridge for many years. Swim teacher Anne Page is a former international and Olympic panellist swimmer, and a fully qualified instructor and coach with many years' experience.

Children travel long distances for her organised classes and expertise.
