The current Mr. Ireland Wayne Walsh and the owner of Catwalk Models Mandy Maher sat on an interview panel last week to determine who the next Miss Galway should be. The winner of the crown is the beautiful Emma Healy as Miss Galway 2019/20. Emma is nineteen years old and has just completed her first year in Hairdressing and Barbering. An ambitious young girl, her career path in the Hair and Beauty Industry is sure to be one with plenty of promise and opportunity.
Having seen an advert in the Galway Advertiser, Emma’s father encouraged her to enter the Miss Galway competition. She decided “why not” since entering the contest could only boost her self-confidence. Throughout her interview, Emma mentioned that she thinks that stepping out of her comfort zone and doing something completely new can only bring positive results.
Emma will compete in the Miss Ireland contest this Autumn and represent both her City and County at a National Level. Miss Ireland, which is one of the world’s longest running pageants, is an incredible platform for young women to build contacts and opportunities. Speaking of Emma’s recent win, Mandy Maher is thrilled to get Emma signed and started in the modelling industry.
Emma will represent her main sponsor DNA Nightclub & Venue throughout her reigning year, as well as her other sponsors: Sarah Mason Professional, EducoGym, Carried Away PR and this year’s Charity Partner Cancer Care West.
The 1st Runner Up, Amy Walsh, and 2nd Runner Up, Catriona Breheny, will go forward to compete in the Miss Ireland Wildcard Round. Amy has just completed her final year in Psychology and IT. In the past, Amy has volunteered with Madra, The Irish Cancer Society and has taught older people IT with Age West Ireland. The 2nd Runner Up Catriona Breheny is currently doing her Leaving Certificate and hoping to study Psychology in NUIG next year. Keeping fit is her passion and she enjoys going to the gym five days per week, as well as keeping up-to-date with fashion and beauty trends.
