Heavily subsidised degree for women in business, enterprise, and community development

EQUAL Ireland is now offering a part-time three year BA degree in business, enterprise, and community development (accredited by AIT ) commencing this January in Galway city.

The programme is heavily subsidised under the Programme for Employment, Inclusion and Learning (PEIL ) 2014-2020 initiative. Year one is available free of charge to women working in the home and not in receipt of social welfare payments. Year two fees are €1,000 and year three fees are €2,500, and there is a possibility that funding support will be made available later in 2019 to cover the entire programme.

The course will be of particular interest to women looking to get back into the workforce and build rewarding careers in the wide-ranging areas of business, administration, management, and community development. It is delivered through a combination of twice monthly weekday workshops from 9.30am to 3.30pm in Galway city as well as through distance and online learning.

“No exams as all learning is measured by project assignments, local workshops, and the chance to study in a very supportive peer group environment are very appealing features of the programme,” said Eddie Higgins, executive director of EQUAL Ireland. “Students also really appreciate the chance to get an individual third level award for each year of the programme, and obviously the level of funding support is highly unusual for part-time programmes of this nature.”
