The High Kings to play Leisureland

Trad/folk sensation make a welcome return o the West

THE HIGH Kings - Finbarr Clancy, Brian Dunphy, Darren Holden, and George Murphy - make a welcome return to the west of Ireland when they play Leisureland, Salthill, on Saturday January 19 at 7pm.

The band, now going strong for more than a decade, with the period bookended by their self-titled 2008 debut album, which reached No 2 on Billboard’s World Music chart; and the 2017 'best of' collection Decade, which entered the Irish Independent Album Chart at No 1 and went Top 20 in the Billboard World Music chart.

"After 10 years with The High Kings, we are delighted to say we have achieved what we set out to do back in 2007," said Finbarr Clancy. "We have moved the Irish ballad tradition to the here and now, and we are deeply honoured to become the bearers of the torch which has been borne with such power and dignity over the past half century by The Clancy Brothers and The Dubliners." As for the future, the band have vowed to continue for another decade. “Full steam ahead!” said Finbarr.
