The exhibition, entitled Siar, by Mayo’s Áine Uí Ghrádaigh and New Yorker Elaine Conneely, will be held in the university art gallery in the Quadrangle. The official opening is tomorrow at 7pm. What then about the ‘subversion’ of traditional images of being ‘macho’ with the tough guy look of beards, moustaches, and leather jackets being a big part of gay male culture? Indeed, can you have machismo without homoeroticism?
