Finbar Hoban presents: The Bastard Rain

Fri, Feb 20, 2009

Dublin group The Bastard Rain come to Bar Ritz next Saturday night February 28 as part of the Finbar Hoban Presents series with support from Green Lights (last ever show) plus Vamos from Galway will be performing a DJ set in between the live entertainment.

Electronic pop rock, mish mash outfit Green Lights were formed in summer 2006 by house mates Colin Boylan (vocals, guitar, samplers, mini megaphone, drills) Daniel (drums) and Nigel (keyboards, glockenspiel, backing vocals, scream phone). Time to Tell the parents is the follow up the band’s debut release The Small Curious Things EP that was released in March 2008. Their second EP Time to Tell the Parents was released on the band’s own label 516 Records in November. The EP was recorded in Dublin’s famous Red Lab studios in a single weekend session in August 2008. The four tracks on the EP range from electro pop opener ‘Cut to the Chase’ to the atmospheric sounds of ‘Tiny Little Ghost’. The band themselves have played with almost all of the heavy hitters of the independent Irish alternative scene including Fight Like Apes, Adebisi Shank, and Twin Kranes. So be sure to check out Dublin’s very own Green Lights as this will be the group’s last show for a very long time before lead singer Colin Boylan heads off to Japan for a year to follow his medical studies.
