Celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge at the Museum of Country Life

Guided tours in Irish

Available from Tuesday March 10 to Friday March 13 at 2pm. Places are limited to 20. Tours in Irish will also be available throughout the week for groups. Pre-booking is essential.

Traditional Irish music

Join Emer Mayock and guests for a musical performance to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge and the coming of St Patrick’s Day. This will take place on Sunday March 15 from 2.30pm to 3.30pm.

The knitting circle

Exchange patterns, learn new techniques, bring along your knitting and join in, this event will take place in the education room on Friday March 20 from 11am to 1pm.

Clay weaving workshop

Learn about the different types of baskets in the museum’s handling collection and weave a basket from clay with Tommy Casby. This will take place on Thursday March 26 from 4pm to 5pm and is for children under six, accompanied by an adult.

My museum special tour (bilingual )

On Friday March 13 at either 11.30am or 2pm join storyteller Niall De Búrca on a special tour of the museum galleries, looking at his favourite aspects of the collection through Irish including stories of the fairies, the school teacher, seasonal festivals, and much more.

The museum opens from Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and on Sunday from 2pm to 5pm. It is closed on Mondays including bank holidays. Visit www.museum.ie for further details of events or if you would like to join the museum’s mailing list.
