Disappointed following a thumping defeat to Athlone Town, Mervue United will be hoping for a significant improvement when Monaghan United visit Fahy's Field tomorrow night.

Last Saturday's reversal in the midlands meant Athlone climbed above Mervue in the table as the Galway side slipped to eighth place in the standings. Considering Mervue have spent much of the campaign ahead of Waterford United and Athlone, it is a pity that recent losses ensure that Finn Harps could also catch Johnny Glynn's young outfit.

Corofin into fourth consecutive county football final

They have won the Frank Fox Cup on 10 occasions since 1991 and they will be hoping to continue that rich winning vein when they play Salthill, Mountbellew/Moylough or Tuam Stars in the 2011 final. Despite the backlog of games, the final is still pencilled in for October 23.

First up at 2.15pm is the county junior A final with Clonbur taking on Headford. That game is followed by the county intermediate final at 4pm between Kilconly and Oughterard.
