Greenfields Hockey Club hope to become the first Connacht club to win a national trophy when they take on Omagh in Sunday’s All Ireland Trophy final in Dublin’s Belfield Arena.
Greenfields reached the final in 2010, but were beaten by Catholic Institute of Limerick. Now they are hoping to go one better this time to make history.

Loughrea RFC, who make their first appearance in a cup final for 20 years, will face Galwegians, who were winners in 2008, in Sunday’s decider at the Galway Sportsground. And for both clubs it will be a huge occasion.

It was good to see the Galway footballers fight back from a bad position in the first half in Pearse Park, Longford, last Sunday and claim a crucial two points against Monaghan.
Alan Mulholland’s charges were flattered to win by 1-14 to 0-12, but they have given themselves a chance of a league final date with Tyrone at Croke Park and promotion to division one if they can beat an improving Kildare on Sunday week.
