The Mayor will be joined by Billy Glynn, president of the IRFU and life member of Galwegians.To celebrate the occasion, a full afternoon's activity is lined up, with a range of family entertainment on offer to complete an action-packed day. Doubles triumph for Galway tennis youngster

Mike Clarkson, the current Galway Lawn Tennis Club champion, completed a remarkable double at Fitzwilliam last weekend. The teenager won both the boys’ u-16 doubles and mixed doubles to add to his previous victories in both events at u-12 level.

Clarkson, who is trained by Jonathan Klampe and travels to N-Zone in Malahide every Sunday for coaching with the Michael Nugent squad, reached the singles finals at the Galway Senior Open, the Leinster Junior Open, and won the Castlebar Junior Open. He also won his first ITS matches (International u-18 Competition) this summer in Donnybrook and Rushbrooke.
