Moycullen made a successful return to Basketball Ireland’s men’s first division with 23 points to spare over Titans in the Galway derby at NUIG. Paul Freeman, Titans’ coach last season, produced a 20 point haul in the green of Moycullen. Stephen Tummon was his usual threat from offensive rebounds, while Tomas Mitkus led the way under both baskets for the losing side.

Kilkerrin-Clonberne were comfortable winners over Claregalway in the Mairead Meehan final in Caltra on Sunday. On a windy day, Kilkerrin-Clonberne won the toss and ran up a big half-time lead of 4-11 to 1-4. The greater fitness of the county senior champions was reflected in the final score, finishing 7-17 to 1-12 winners.

Galway WFC return to Bishopstown Stadium on Sunday for the second week in a row to face Cork City WFC - this time in the Continental Tyres WNL Cup.
Against the same opposition last weekend, Galway dominated possession, but were forced to come from behind twice to salvage a 2-2 draw. Although Galway should relish the chance to have another go at Cork and make up for their miserly performance in front of goal, they will need to up their game in the final third of the field if they are to progress in the League Cup this Sunday.
