Reigning champions Garbally College and finalists CBS Roscommon have been paired together in this year's Connacht Schools Rugby Senior A Cup opening round when the competition kicks off on January 13.

Galwegians were outgunned by a stronger Sligo side in Saturday's Connacht Senior Cup semi-final encounter, losing 16-31 at Crowley Park.
Played under lights, Wegians opened with an early fifth minute penalty from fullback Ewan Strang, but from the restart, and a strong break by centre and ex-Wegian Mark Butler created space for winger Philip Carter to saunter under the posts for the opening try, Euan Brown landing the conversion to put the visitors 7-3 ahead.

Galwegians secured a second consecutive bonus point win at home when they ran out comfortable 36-12 winners over bottom-of-the-table Ballina in the Energia AIL Division 2B at Crowley Park on Saturday.
Fresh from their win over Malahide, Wegians came into this game in confident mood, and opened the scoring after five minutes. A solid set-piece was the platform before winger Hugh Lane found himself in space before sending Diarmuid Kilgallen through, giving Ewan Strang an easy conversion. By the 15th minute they doubled their lead with a second converted try - a midfield break by Mikey O’Donnell setting up Danny Faulkner to touch down, with Strang adding the extras.
