The seventh year of the Clifden Lifeboat 10k fundraising event saw up-and-coming GCH athlete Richard Farnan take a good win over the testing course in a time of 36 mins 25.

Sean Nee was second in 40.17 and Seamus Nee third in 40.22. First woman home was Lorraine O’Connell in a time of 45.58.

Five Galway teams, Corofin, Tuam Stars, Milltown, Kilkerrin Clonberne and Caherlistrane, will be aiming for All-Ireland honours at the 42nd FBD All-Ireland Senior Football Sevens at Kilmacud Crokes in Dublin on Saturday.

Corofin will be aiming to retain the title they won last year, and are placed in Group 5 along with Errigal Ciaran of Tyrone, St Laurences of Kildare, and Waterford's Clashmore.
