These goals, followed by a last-minute strike by debutant Martin Farragher, gave Galway a 13-point win over Sligo in Sunday's Connacht Senior Football Championship semi-final in Markievicz Park.

Medtronic senior footballers were crowned All Ireland champions for a second time when they defeated Ardboe Coldstore from Tyrone by 3-23 to 1-16 in Saturday's final in Michael Coney Park, Ardboe.

Medtronic, playing some fine football, were dominant in this entertaining encounter played in ideal conditions, but it was Dylan Canney with a personnel tally of 10 points who was a constant thorn for the Tyrone side.

Plucky Carlow hurled with plenty of spirit and no little amount of skill and left Galway manager Micheál Donoghue with plenty to ponder ahead of Wexford’s upcoming visit to Salthill.
