Medtronic senior hurlers retained their county interfirms title when they had eight points to spare over an understrength Galway Teachers in Clarenbridge on Saturday.
Medtronic, winners by 3-15 to 1-13, were the stronger team throughout with Niall Healy the scorer-in-chief with nine points, six of which came from placed balls. Medtronic now go on to meet the Leinster champions in the All Ireland semi-final in the New Year.

Maree/Oranmore FC has received the 2013 Mayor of County Galway Sports Award. Club secretary Martin Horgan was presented with the award by Therese Maher, Galway All Ireland Camogie Winner 2013, while a cheque for €500 was presented to club treasurer Stuart McCamley.
Speaking at the awards presentation ceremony in the Claregalway Hotel, Martin Horgan paid a special tribute to the 60 coaches who “give their time week-in week-out on a purely voluntary basis to ensure that the physical, sporting, developmental and recreational needs of all the young boys and girls in the communities of Maree and Oranmore were adequately catered for”.
