Galway Ladies prepare to step up

The Galway Ladies will travel to St Brendan's Park (Birr) this Saturday to take on Monaghan in the All-Ireland Ladies Senior Football Championship quarter-final.

Beaten All Ireland finalists last season, Monaghan overcame Ulster rivals Tyrone at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park in Longford on Saturday by 1-16 to 3-7 victory.

Galway swimmer continues top form in Canada

Salthill's Andrew Moore is celebrating winning gold at the at Canadian Age Groups Swimming Championships in Winnepeg.

The Bish fifth year student won the 200m breaststroke and also took bronze in the 400m IM (age 16) at Canadian event, while finishing as a finalist in his other three events - 6th (100m breaststroke); 7th (200m IM) and 8th (50m breaststroke). He was also a member of the Irish 4 x 100m medley relay (16-18) that finished sixth overall.

Galway U 16s claim Connacht crown

Galway u16 girls claimed the Connacht title in Charlestown on Sunday last but were made fight all the way by a determined Roscommon side. The Rossies played with the wind in the first half but it was Galway that started the better and were two points up inside three minutes, with points from Riona Ni Fhlatharta and Leanne Coen.
