Four Galwegian women were among the medallists at the National Single Powerlift championships last weekend.
Sharon Conroy (29) from Inverin, Claire Heneghan (23) from Mountbellew, NUIG student Kathryn O’Neill (23), and Orla O’Flaherty (28) from The Claddagh all won medals and qualified for European and international competitions. All four lifters are coached by Max Lauth at Maximum Results.

Galway United host Athlone Town in a pre-season friendly at Eamonn Deacy Park on Saturday evening, kick off 7.30 pm.Tommy Dunne's charges are undergoing a robust pre season having played out a scoreless draw with Finn Harps at Moyne Villa's grounds in Headford last Friday. The squad followed that fixture with a 2-0 victory over Jumbo Brennan's NUIG Collingwood Cup squad in Mervue on Tuesday morning.
