Galway Women’s FC completed their final game of the season forcing a well-earned 1-1 draw against league leaders Wexford Youths in Eamonn Deacy Park on Sunday afternoon.
This final fixture was one of the games of the year, with Galway denying the visitors a win and the championship crown. Now the league leaders will face a title decider against Shelbourne to wrap up this season's Continental Tyres Women's National League.

Following Tuesday’s controversial SSE Airtricity League Premier Division defeat to St Patrick’s Athletic at Eamonn Deacy Park, Galway United face a tricky away assignment against Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds on Saturday (7.45pm).
United were aggrieved by referee Padraigh Sutton’s decision to send John Sullivan off for a second yellow card in the 40th minute of the clash with the Saints. Following Sullivan’s dismissal Sean Hoare, Billy Dennehy, and substitute Conan Byrne bagged goals for Pat’s, who had been troubled by United earlier on.

When Mayo were awarded a penalty in injury time on Wednesday night and were trailing by a point against Sligo, the percentage option was to take a point and see where the chips landed after that, but that thought never entered their heads said Mayo captain Andrew Farrell after the game. Galway have been doing well this season under team manager Ollie Bergin (Kinvara), and his selectors, Joan Poland (Eyrecourt), Francis Larkin (Killimor) and David Forde (Clarinbridge), advancing to the league final after a one-point win over Limerick two weeks ago.
