Survey finds Galway retailers upbeat

Galway retailers remain upbeat about the future of retail in Ireland, however the overwhelming majority say the Government at local and national level is not doing enough to support the retail economy.
These are among the key findings in the new One4all Retail Index tracking the views of retailers across Ireland.

A RHYTHM, dance, and fire, and spectacular to celebrate midsummer, takes place this Saturday, in Brigit’s Garden, Rosscahill, from 7.30pm to 11.30pm.
Midsummer fires are a tradition stretching back thousands of years to mark the summer solstice. The highlight on Saturday will be a performance of fire dancing and the ceremonial lighting of the solstice bonfire. Visitors of all ages can participate in drumming circles with Lukasz. There will also be face-painting, entertainment for children, and an opportunity to explore the Celtic Gardens.

Large networks of underground rivers stretching out off the west coast of Ireland, hidden beneath the Galway Bay seabed, have been discovered by geologists from the School of Natural Sciences at NUI Galway.
The significant discovery was made by the researchers following conversations with residents from Inishmaan on the Aran Islands. Typically, islands experience fresh water shortages, however, the residents of the Aran Islands said their well of fresh water never ran out. The find was futher confirmed from fishermen who refer to freshwater risings along the south coast of Galway Bay.

Ireland West Airport Knock has launched a new service to Glasgow Prestwick in Scotland with Ryanair, which will operate every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
The launch represents another milestone for the airport as it is the first connection between Ireland West Airport Knock and Glasgow Prestwick Airport in Scotland. Glasgow Prestwick Airport is Glasgow's second airport and serves the greater Glasgow region, situated 32 miles from the city centre of Glasgow.

The core aims of Men’s Health Week are to heighten awareness of preventable health problems for all males of all ages, to support men to engage in healthier lifestyle activities, and to encourage the early detection of health difficulties in men. The theme for 2014 is ‘‘Challenges, Choices, and Celebrations’’.
