Every year since 1825, McDonogh’s of Galway have been delighted to help Galway people celebrate Christmas by providing a range of decorations, trees, lighting and accessories to help brighten any home or business. This year is no different and McDonoghs have extended their tree and lighting display into their Garden Centre so prospective customers can view their favourite tree and lighting before choosing from their extensive range.

Within the store itself they have a range of indoor accessories, decorations and Christmas figurines to suit all tastes. Night lights, scented candles, Yule logs, candlebridge lights and cribs.

The Galway Lions Club has launched its annual Radio Auction which will be held on Friday December 11 in the Salthill Hotel between 9am and 12pm.

The auction will once again be broadcast live on the Keith Finnegan Show. Galway Lions is seeking the support of local businesses and organisations, in helping the less well-off in our community, by either making a financial donation or by sponsoring an item that can be auctioned.

Bish move to Dangan back on the agenda in new draft development plan

Plans to move St Joseph’s College, The Bish, to a new site were back before the Galway City Council this week following a proposal seeking to designate lands in Dangan, owned by NUI Galway, for the development of a secondary school. The proposal has been included in the draft Galway City Development Plan 2017-2023, which councillors met to discuss on Monday.

Councillors voted against rezoning the lands by a narrow majority when the proposal last came before the council 10 years ago, though the Bish site on Nuns’ Island was rezoned for residential use under the current development plan.
