An Taibhdhearc, Ireland’s National Irish language theatre will celebrate one hundred years of Dáil Éireann in an event which will take place 100 years to the day, in the centre of Galway City at the Eyre Square Centre Tower.
Events will commence in An Taibhdhearc at 2:50p.m. on January 21 with a walk through the pedestrian area of Galway, with members of the Tulla Pipe Band to lead the parade. This will be followed by a re-enactment of the first Dáil in front of the Tower of the Eyre Square Shopping Centre at 3:30p.m.

Councillors were presented with a report by Garda Chief Superintendent Tom Curley at Monday’s JPC meeting at City Hall, which said the number of recorded cyclists’ crimes for 2018 was 23 down on 43 per cent from 2017.

Rents in Galway city are the second highest in the State, according to a the Residential Tenancies Board Ireland’s rent index for the third quarter of 2018, which has just been published.
The report shows the average annual rent increase across the State was 7.5 per cent. It also revealed that rents are now averaging at €1,187, an annual increase of 1.3 per cent.
