Eleven new streets and four new civic spaces in Augustine Hill

A planning application has today been lodged for the eight-acre infill development site adjacent to Ceannt Train Station in Galway city centre that will see the creation of 11 new streets and four new civic spaces. The development company is a joint venture between Galway-based Edward Capital and London-based Summix Capital. The neighbourhood, deriving its name from an historic name for the area is to be known as Augustine Hill, and will deliver 376 homes in an exciting mixed-use expansion of the city centre.

Galway Freemasons to hold charity fundraising dinner

The Simon Community, Medecins Sans Frontieres, and the RNLI are the chosen charities to benefit from this year’s Freemasons’ Gala Dinner which will take place in the Clayton Hotel on Thursday March 5 at 7pm.

Freemasons have been part of Galway life since 1733 and are the longest continually meeting club in Galway city and county. The Grand Lodge of Ireland holds four meetings per year and have chosen Galway on this occasion to signal support for the city’s City of Culture 2020 status.

Aviva Galway staff take day out to renovate Galway Rape Crisis Centre

Employees from a Galway company spent a day recently carrying out renovations at the headquarters of a local charity as part of the organisation’s corporate social responsibility programme.

Twenty-five staff from the Aviva Galway office gave up their time to help Galway Rape Crisis Centre put in new flooring, paint walls and ceilings, as well as replace door handles and shelves at its premises in Forster Court.
