Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Simon Harris has today announced that the green light has been given to the Mountbellew campus of the Atlantic Technological University to proceed to the next stage in its application for the delivery of veterinary education.

Sixty patients have attended a regional menopause clinic since it was set up in November of last year. The facility, which is based at University Hospital Galway, is a specialist service for women with additional needs around menopause care. Women are referred to the clinic which is open one afternoon per week.
Ann Cosgrove, the chief operations officer of the Saolta University Healthcare Group, which runs the local public hospitals, said 41 new patients have been seen to date at the Complex Menopause Clinic. An additional 19 women who availed of the service were review patients.

A joint Garda operation involving Gardaí from the Mayo/Roscommon/Longford division and the Galway Division, took place yesterday (Wednesday) resulting in seven arrests of men from across Galway and Mayo.
A total of seven men were arrested as part of the investigation, two men in their 40's, four in their 20's and an adult in his teens. The men are being detained at Garda stations in Mayo for offences which include serious assault, violent disorder, possession of weapons and drug offenses.
