Newcastle native and experienced mountain marathoner, Cathal McGrath, took on the Matterhorn Mountain in the Swiss Alps on Saturday, August 26, in aid of Galway based heart and stroke charity, Croí.

Described as one of the most challenging trail run marathons in Europe, the Matterhorn Sky Ultra is not for the faint of heart. The 49 kilometre trail is set over challenging terrain, reaching peaks of 3,600 vertical metres of ascent and descent and is outlined on the marathon’s website as a ‘contest without mercy for die hard runners’, and Cathal most certainly fits the bill, with him having specifically chosen to complete the Matterhorn Sky Ultra because of its daunting reputation.

It enables an applicant to borrow up to 90% of the value of the property where they have proof of insufficient mortgage offers of finance from two regulated financial providers.

More than 30,000 voters are to be transferred between the current Galway constituencies in the latest shake-up of the electoral boundaries which will see Galway East return an extra TD to the next Dáil Eireann.

The number of TDs for Galway West/South Mayo will remain at five, but the constituency will see 6,000 voters return to their fold to a new single Mayo constituency which will have a fifth seat and will represent voters inside the established county boundaries.
