A charity concert will be held in Monroe’s on Wednesday March 23 at 9pm in order to raise funds for those affected by the recent earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand.
The NZ Earthquake Folk Fundraiser will take place in The Backstage Bar in Monroe’s Live and will feature music and song by Stephen James, Murray & Falkenau, and New Zealand band The Broken Heartbreakers.

A 26-year-old man was ordered to pay €15,000 in compensation for a Mike Tyson-like assault during heated five-a-side football tackling in which he bit a fellow player’s ear.
Before imposing a 12 month suspended sentence on Darragh Nagle, Judge Raymond Groarke described the attack as an “outrageous act”. However he acknowledged that a guilty plea had been entered at the first available opportunity and that genuine remorse has been shown by Nagle.

Ronan Scully is always a busy man but this year is exceptional. He has just finished with his role as a leader in RTE’s Operation Transformation but the challenges do not stop there. Next up he is running a marathon at the North Pole this April, a challenge that will truly test the adopted Galway man.
