Movie extras wanted

MovieExtras.ie has announced details of its open day in Galway on Saturday November 7 to recruit extras for film, TV, and commercial productions. The recruitment drive is on the back of involvement with Jack Taylor and another major production which will be shooting soon. MovieExtras.ie is on the look-out for people of all different backgrounds, ages and looks. A bit of Gaelige may also help for future Irish language productions (but is not a requirement). And of course no experience is required.

Port must modernise or close down Harbour board tells TDs

Planning permission to completely redevelop Galway docks into a larger, more modern, port and marina will be lodged in 2010, but the port will be forced to close down unless it expands and modernises to accommodate higher tonnage ships .

This is according to Eamon Bradshaw of the Galway Harbour Company board, who was addressing the Oireachtas' Joint Committee on Transport regarding proposals for the redevelopment of Galway Harbour. The cost of the new development is estimated to be €200 million.
