The 10th annual golf classic in aid of COPE Galway takes place in Oughterard Golf Club over two afternoons on April 29 and 30.

Sponsored by HC Financial Services in Oranmore, the event’s format is a four ball with an entry fee of €160. COPE Galway is also looking for companies and individuals to support this competition by sponsoring a tee for the two days of the competition for €100.

Appeal follows Renmore robbery

Gardaí were this week on the trail of an armed robber who stole money from a shop in Renmore after threatening a shop assistant with a knife.

The man, described as five feet eight or nine inches tall with a strong build, went into Molloy’s shop in Renmore at around 1pm on Saturday and produced a knife. He threatened the shop assistant and stole a small sum of money before leaving the shop on foot.
