Galway landmarks to ‘Light It Up Gold’ for childhood cancer awareness

A number of buildings and landmarks around the country, including the fountain in Eyre Square and the g Hotel in Galway city, will be bathed in gold from September 1 as part of the inaugural ‘Light It Up Gold’ iniative which aims to raise awareness of childhood cancer.

Merlin College finally opens it its doors

After years of consultation and planning, Galway’s newest second level school, Coláiste Mhuirlinne or Merlin College, finally opened its doors to first year students on Tuesday of this week in temporary accommodation at Woodlands, Renmore.

The co-ed school, which comes under the patronage of Galway Roscommon Education Training Board, will provide education to the increasing population of east Galway.
