Consisting of a handheld scanner, a tag which identified individual sheep and a lead which allows the farmer to connect the handheld device to the computer, Sheep Tech enables the farmer to read and access real time information on the flock, from the comfort of their home. The device was the brainchild of Dominick Gallagher, Liam Shaughnessy, Mark Hanniffy and Shane Canavan who developed the technology to assist farmers in complying with traceability legislation.

The reduction is due to The Valuation Office reducing the value of a number of properties in the county used by utility companies, therefore reducing the rates bill of these companies.
Rates are calculated by multiplying the Annual Rate on Valuation [as determined by Galway County Council], by the valuation on the property, as determined by The Valuation Office. Therefore if the value of a property decreases, this lowers the rates bill.
