Blackrock Health Group, which comprises the Blackrock, Galway, Hermitage and Limerick Clinics, has announced a €25 million investment in a new digital transformation programme. The investment includes the introduction of the very latest in electronic health record systems, MEDITECH Expanse, and the introduction of Ireland’s first integrated digital engagement platform that will enable connectivity between patients, consultants and general practitioners (GPs).

These innovations will serve to connect patient data for the 325,000 patients it treats annually across its four clinics, enhance clinical care, improve patient safety all while reducing the administration burden and freeing up more time for clinicians to focus on patient care.

Tuam welcomes new full time ambulance and crew

On Monday, August 4, Tuam welcomed a newly established second ambulance and crew at the town’s ambulance base, serving the residents of the town and the surrounding areas on a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week basis to help offset the demand and delays for the region.

Local Independent TD, Sean Canney, who has been calling for the additional services for Tuam for more than a year, says that the introduction of the ambulance and crew is a ‘common-sense approach’ to providing healthcare for a base that services a large geographical area across Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.

The national crack down on the use of ‘dodgy boxes’ to access premium TV content is moving closer to home, as households within Galway were issued cease-and-desist notices between August 7 to 18.

The letters, which were issued to households in Mayo, Monaghan, Galway, Louth, Dublin, Cork and Laois, instruct those using services which provide illegal access to ‘premium television content’ being issued to households running devices which provide illegal access to premium TV content, warning users to ‘immediately cease all illegal streaming activity otherwise risk facing the consequences, including criminal prosecution’.
