Game week 27 came to an end in the Etihad on Wednesday night as Man City strolled to a 2-0 victory over hapless West Ham. Elsewhere Man United breathed new life into their fight for the Champions League by defeating Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge. Sheffield United and Spurs won again to close the gap on a top four spot or should I say top five? And Liverpool continued their stroll to the title with a 1-0 success over Norwich City.

Employees from a Galway company spent a day recently carrying out renovations at the headquarters of a local charity as part of the organisation’s corporate social responsibility programme.
Twenty-five staff from the Aviva Galway office gave up their time to help Galway Rape Crisis Centre put in new flooring, paint walls and ceilings, as well as replace door handles and shelves at its premises in Forster Court.

A total of 95 projects in Galway City and County have received more than €9.6million from the bequest to the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) from the will of the late Maureen O’Connell former owner of O’Connell’s pub in Eyre Square.
Since the donation in 2007, the original bequest totalling €7.73 million grew to €10.5m through accumulated bank interest and other income.The bequest has now been fully drawn down or allocated and a detailed report on its use and the projects which have benefitted was published this week Entitled “A Living Legacy’ the report describes how funds from Miss O’Connell’s estate were disbursed.
