Noel Devery was born in Ballybane, having spent all his time since leaving school in the hairdressing business he saw a niche in the market for a beauty salon, as he catered so much for weddings, debs, etc. This year he took on two of the biggest ventures of his life, he married Lisa O’Reilly in October and on Valentine’s Day this year together they ventured into the beauty world and opened a salon in Ballybane Shopping Centre, with free parking.

A Department of Family and Social Welfare cheque, worth €2,043, was posted to the wrong address where it stayed for several weeks until a man, faced with mounting financial problems, took the chance of lodging the cheque into his own bank account and withdrawing the money, the Galway District Court heard this week.

No Insider is not calling for another election - even his passion for politics has some boundaries. What I mean is that now Election 2011 is over, the battle for the next elections - the Seanad elections and the 2014 locals - will begin.

Just when we thought it was going to be all plain sailing once again in Galway East the tides turned, a recount was ordered, votes vanished and disprepancies were found, but we got there in the end filling all four seats and closing the doors of the community centre in New Inn before midnight on Sunday.
