Fishamble’s production Forgotten to benefit COPE Galway

COPE Galway is to benefit from a theatrical performance in the city next week, when Fishamble present Forgotten, a solo piece for theatre which explores four characters, between the ages of 80-100 years old, who reside in care facilities and retirement homes.

Presented in a fusion of European and Japanese Kabuki theatrical styles, the piece is a dark and comical portrayal of the challenges facing older people in Ireland today. This is a special one night performance with all proceeds going to support COPE Galway’s Senior Support Services in Galway.

Aran Island students selected for fashion grand final

Two Aran Island students have been selected to represent their school at the grand final of the ERP Junk Kouture fashion competition.

Junk Kouture is an all-Ireland competition in which second level students are challenged to create high fashion couture fashion outfits from old everyday junk. Colaiste Naomh Eoin on Inis Meain entered three groups and outfits into the competition and all three beat off stiff competition to be selected for the regional final, which was held in Athlone last month. Two students were then selected to go to the grand final which takes place on April 20 at Citywest Hotel in Dublin.

Tailored towards Leaving Certificate and mature students interested in studying at NUI Galway, the Open Day will give the opportunity for students, along with their parents and families, to sample university life at NUI Galway.
