Film quiz in aid of Solas Picture Palace

A film based table quiz, in aid of the Solas Picture Palace arthouse cinema, takes place in the Róisín Dubh this evening at 7.30pm.
There will be a maximum of 30 tables and the cost is €5 a head or €20 a table, there is a maximum of four people per table. All proceeds are in aid of the picture palace, which is currently under construction. It will contain three cinemas, a café, bar, a film/art books and DVD shop, and an online film archive.

The proposed fish farm for Galway Bay has met with the “reservations” of Galway county councillors, who are demanding that the Government take note of their concerns.
At Monday’s county council meeting, Independent councillor Jim Cuddy put forward a motion expressing “concerns and reservations about the proposed fish farm”. A planning application for the farm, by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara, is seeking to locate it off the coast of Inis Óirr.
