Ryan loses seat in fifth Ballinasloe count

The people have spoken and it’s a “wake up call for our Government” that will hopefully be heeded before the General Election, that is according to Fine Gael’s Kevin Ryan.
Ryan lost his Galway County Council seat in the fifth count for the Ballinasloe electoral area at the count centre at NUI Galway this evening. Gracious in defeat, he wished his running mates Michael Finnerty and Aidan Donohue well.

Councillor Malachy Noone will return to Galway County Council having won the third seat in the seventh count for the Athenry-Oranmore electoral area. Cllr Noone received 160 transfers to gain a total of 1,689 votes, 88 votes over the quota of 1,601.
