Dacia 10 millionth Dacia vehicle rolls off the line

Dacia is celebrating the production off its 10 millionth vehicle since the brand was born in 1968. The vehicle, produced in Romania, was a new Dacia Duster Extreme SE in Urban Grey.

Dacia started assembling its first vehicle, the Dacia 1100, in August 1968. The following year, the iconic Dacia 1300 model inspired a whole family of derivatives such as the sedan, station wagon, sports coupe and LCV. It remained in production for 35 years and has left its mark on the Romanian automotive landscape.

VW ID.5 and Nissan Qashqai excel in highway assist

As part of its ongoing evaluation of assisted driving technology, Euro NCAP has tested the highway assistance systems offered on four recent cars.

The Jaguar I-Pace system was graded as ‘Entry’ level, the updated Polestar 2 system as ‘Good’, while the Volkswagen ID.5 and Nissan’s Qashqai are the best performers with systems rated as ‘Very Good’.

Irish new car sales jump in March

New car registrations for March jumped 40.7 per cent to 12,935 compared to 9,192 for the same month last year, according to the Society of the Irish Motor Industry. However, this is still 22 per cent behind that of pre-Covid (2019) levels.

Last month saw 1,930 new electric vehicles registered compared to 1,034 in March 2021. So far this year, 6,244 new electric cars have been registered in comparison to 2,816 on the same period last year.
