Caminos de Tango will begin its latest course for beginners starting on Monday March 1 at 8pm in The Rowing Club.

“Dancing tango is like speaking a foreign language,” said Marion Krauthaker, director of Caminos de Tango Ireland. “When you learn, at the beginning it feels awkward and you don’t really know what you are saying, nor do you understand what people are trying to tell you. Then you master some basic sentences and you are just thrilled. Being able to share these precious words with other people is so rewarding. Later on, you can have more philosophical conversations and the feeling is just pure delight. But then again it’s all a question of personality: with some people you never want to stop talking, with others you run out of arguments, and with a few you just don’t get on.”

A selection of students from Shane Fitzgibbon’s “Connacht Taekwon-do Schools” recently attended the International Irish Championships in Neptune Stadium, Cork. With representation from seven European countries, the standard was extremely high. The local group held their own however to bring back a fine haul of silverware. The Galway instructors who attended were Shane Fitzgibbon (Galway and Oranmore), Lisa Connolly (Labane & Kinvara), Sally Whelan (Barna) and Sandra Doyle (Loughrea).
