West Coast Insulation is a leading provider of cavity wall and attic insulation. The Galway-based company offers a free quotation and assistance and information on the available grants for homeowners.
West Coast Insulation is an official installer for leading insulation manufacturer Kingspan. When insulating a house, the company injects EcoBead Platinum Bonded Bead in the cavity walls, even when there is existing aerobord insulation. This significantly improves the heat retention and also fills in any gaps in the older insulation. The company keeps the injection holes closer together to ensure the walls are filled 100 per cent and that the bead is packed as tightly as possible. The company installs Knauf rolled insulation in attics.

In 1893, a Bohermore hurling club was affiliated to the County Board. There was a strong nationalist tradition in the area and so the club evolved into Bohermore 98’s in honour of the centenary of the 1798 rebellion. The guiding lights of the club were Jim Tonery, Paddy ‘Ham’ Ruffle, and John Crowe. The club forfeited a County Championship in 1903 when one of their players was sent off. The team protested at the injustice of the decision and walked off the pitch. Their clubhouse was in Bohermore on a site that was later occupied by “Monto’s Shop” and is today covered with townhouses.

An extraordinary thing happened in the Hungarian city of Gyor on St Patrick’s Day, March 17 1697. A painting of the Virgin and Child, brought to the city 42 years previously by Bishop Walter Lynch, a member of the esteemed Lynch family of Galway, began to ‘weep copiously’ during Mass. Despite having been wiped clean with linen cloths (one of those cloths is still preserved), it continued to exude ‘a bloody sweat’ for three hours.
