Cosmetic acupuncture

Thu, Nov 30, 2017

Cosmetic acupuncture, sometimes called facial rejuvenation acupuncture, is the newest weapon in the anti-ageing war. Many celebrities, including Hollywood stars, have tried this treatment and loved it. Some clinical reports have shown positive results. It is a non-invasive, non-surgical, method of reducing fine lines around the eyes, lips, and nose. It can also help to reduce bags from under the eyes and firm chin lines. In most cases cosmetic acupuncture can clear or reduce age spots, lift droopy eyelids, tighten pores, and brighten eyes. Because cosmetic acupuncture can also increase blood circulation and drain away toxins, patients feel younger as well as having a healthy glow and vibrant complexion.

Eating mindlessly

Thu, Nov 30, 2017

When in the grip of an emotional ‘binge’, it seems to all happens so fast. We are almost not present, as the ‘treat’ food gets hoovered up within minutes. In fact, a tell-tale sign of emotional eating is that it is often carried out standing up at the kitchen counter. Or it may take the form of secret eating, if we do not want loved ones to comment. It is often carried out at speed, with the feeling that it is almost out of control. This is ‘mindless eating’ at its worst.

People of The Tribes : Meet Redmond

Wed, Nov 29, 2017

My name is Redmond Connolly. I am originally from Abbeyknockmoy but live in Belmullet, a beautiful town on the wild Atlantic way and well worth a visit if you're planning a trip to Mayo. I am a Primary School teacher, teaching since 1982 and I've always had a keen interest in folk and traditional music. During the late seventies/early eighties, I spent many summers playing folk and trad with my brothers Josh and Tosh and a few friends in many of the great Galway pubs like the cellar, Glynns the crane and the hole in the wall. Such great memories. I have recently written a song called Galway town and am hoping to raise funds for Galway Simon community who do so much on behalf of people who are homeless. To me, Galway is the best city (I call it town) in Ireland and in fact it is difficult to think of a finer place when you consider all Galway has to offer... music, song, dance, football, hurling, rugby, food, theatre, art, sea and shops. But above all, it has kept its soul and that is a tribute to all Galwegians .... Gaillimh abú!!!

Brasserie on the Corner, standing the test of time

Thu, Nov 23, 2017

It is hard to believe that Brasserie on the Corner has been around for as long as it has. It seems like only yesterday that the team were putting the finishing touches to it, yet that was way back in July 2012, and it has been going from strength to strength ever since. Opened on a disused corner of Eglinton Street, The Brasserie brought life back to this slightly down-at-heel area. It benefits by being run by the same people that have the popular Dáil Bar, The Front Door, and Tom Sheridan’s in Knocknacarra, a professional team that do not tend to miss a trick, and from being under the watchful eye of Eimear Killian, one of the best general managers in the business.

Considering it has enjoyed huge popularity from day one, the decor looks as good today as it did on the day it opened. The interior is beautifully finished with dark wood, leather backed chairs, attention to detail and quality in all finishes. Although a newly constructed bar it has some ornate features echoing classic pub design from different eras, which score highly with the tourists. Beyond the long bar counter with padded stools, the brick arches that divide the dining room look as if they have always been part of the building, the burnished ceiling casts a warm light, and the overall effect is traditional but stylish.
