As this is going to be McCambridge’s biggest ever fair, I thought it might be worthwhile to suggest some producers for you to seek out. The problem when visiting a large fair can be, where do you start?
There will be many names you know but some you may not, and they are also ones that I reckon are best in class.

Thu, Nov 24, 2011
Still by far the most common reason for a filling is decay. Sugar and bacteria combine to create acid. This acid attacks the enamel, and as the enamel dissolves the bacteria progress deeper into the tooth or around the old filling. It is the result of a simple chemical reaction. The less the quantity of sugar and, just as importantly, the less frequently you take the sugar, the slower the decay will progress.
As the bacteria approach the core of the tooth (the pulp) you will get sensitivity from hot, cold, or sweet food and drink. Initially the pain may last only a few minutes, but as the cavity gets deeper the pain lingers longer with each episode. At a certain point the nerve tissue of your tooth becomes irreversibly damaged and either root canal treatment or extraction will be required.

Thu, Nov 17, 2011
Fat Freddy’s restaurant has been a long-time member of the Quay Street restaurants, and I thought it would be a good idea to see if it has kept its menu and service ‘fresh up to date’. The menu is mainly pizza with a few alternates like chimichanga (toasted tortilla), enchiladas, quesadillas, and lasagne, various pastas, plus four or five different salads. My dining guest for the evening was my son, who has a big appetite, and he had already decided to have the sticky creole chicken wings for starter; alas that was not to be, none available, perhaps a good sign as the dish is apparently very good.

Thu, Nov 17, 2011
Food safety body safefood has launched an awareness campaign to highlight how germs that cause food poisoning can easily spread in the kitchen.
Recent research revealed 43 per cent of kitchens were contaminated with raw meat bacteria after food preparation. Results from a second study from safefood showed that raw meat bacteria can last at least 24 hours on kitchen surfaces. The campaign shows how unseen germs can spread throughout the kitchen and how careless everyday kitchen habits can cause food poisoning.

Twenty two years ago Emer Murray had a tasting in The Ardilaun to launch her Christmas goodies, it was a great success so she is using the same formula again.
Emer Murray of Goya’s feels it is important to taste the cakes, to know what you are ordering, and most importantly in the current climate, to feel happy with the quality of the cakes, savoury tarts, and meals. Therefore on Friday November 18 at Goya’s, Kirwan's Lane, everyone can enjoy a glass of mulled wine, taste the goodies both sweet and savoury, and donate €5 to St Vincent De Paul. On the day you can order Christmas treats and take the work out of Christmas for yourself.

If the rumours are true then we are in for an even worse ‘big freeze’ this winter – a thought that will sends shivers down the spine even if you like the snow. We all remember the ice-rink roads that became impossible to navigate; only the toughest of Army vehicles could make safe progress on them. This made getting to the shops for even the most basic supplies very difficult for some, and food ran short during those cold weeks. So the message this year is to be prepared.

Thu, Nov 17, 2011
For the past few years opaque tights have been a major trend, and they are still going strong this winter. Coloured tights can make a huge statement with vibrant hues of red, purple, or mustard. However sheer tights are back on trend thanks to style icon Kate Middleton, who has been wearing them for many occasions. With so much to choose from I am often asked what tights to wear with what. Here are some rules and style ideas on how to wear tights this winter.
Coloured tights are a great way to add drama to your look. Remember to balance the look with more subtle colours. A great way to wear coloured tights is with a neutral outfit and to introduce colour with an accessory or an inside layer. You could also match your shoes with your top. But if you want more drama, go for colour blocking and team bright tights with a contrasting coloured outfit, such as this ensemble from Penney’s teamed with red tights.

If compulsion, loss of control, personality changes, and facing unpleasant consequences are all signs of an addiction, then I have stared down the barrel. Though I do not wear much make-up, I love make-up. I agree with Dianne Von Furstenberg when she wisely tweeted that a girl’s handbag is her “home during the day”, and in that bag lies our beloved cosmetics. I have turned the car around and driven straight back home upon realising mid-rush hour commute that I have left a favourite lip gloss (it’s now Chanel’s number 51) or Bobbi Brown shimmer brick in the bathroom. I can almost sense, like a phantom limb, when I’m missing something. I once left a coat behind in a restaurant, and the magnitude did not hit me until I realised later that night with a sharp pain in my chest that my Chanel lip gloss was in the pocket of the coat. I am also a girl who sold a Volkswagen years ago, and still have a sneaking suspicion that my limited edition (the curse of the make-up world) Christian Dior sparkly lip gloss had rolled in under the driver’s seat. The new owner assured me he looked, but did he really?
