GALWAY YOUTH Theatre has consistently impressed at the Galway Arts Festival over the past number of years, so there should be plenty of interest in its two productions for this year - Polly Stenham’s Tusk Tusk and Mark Ravenhill’s Citizenship.

Neil Hannon always like to surprise when it comes to live performances. From a standard guitars and drums line-up to a string quartet to a full orchestra, you never quite know what to expect. His Galway Arts Festival performance later this month will be something special however — he will perform songs from his new album, Bang Goes The Knighthood, in an intimate solo show.

ANTON CHEKHOV’S timeless classic Uncle Vanya is among the highlights of this year’s Galway Arts Festival in a much-praised co-production by two of Bristol’s foremost companies - the Bristol Old Vic and Shakespeare At The Tobacco Factory.
The Bristol Old Vic can lay claim to be Britain’s oldest continually operating theatre, with its Theatre Royal space dating back to 1766, while the present Old Vic company was founded in 1946 as an offshoot of the London Old Vic.

DOLORES KEANE, the singer who dominated the Irish folk scene in the 1980s and 1990s, is returning to music and will make her ‘comeback’ in The Office Bar in Salthill on Friday July 2.
Dolores took time off from the scene for a number of years in order to raise her young family.

GALWAY GUITARIST Jimmy Fitzgerald will launch his new album, Jimmy Fitz, in The Crane Bar on Wednesday at 9pm.
Jimmy, best known for his stints in The Little Fish, Maimin Cajun Band, The Screamin Bluecats, got a chance to record the album after Eric Clapton’s producer Jon Astley expressed an interest in working with the Galwegian on the strength of his demos.

Super-8 was invented by Kodak in the 1960s and gave birth to millions of film makers, until the advent of video. There has been a resurgence of interest in Super-8 due to its cinematic look and its vivid colours.
