AC/DC TRIBUTE act Whole Lotta Voltage will bring a fearsome slice of ‘rock’n’roll damnation’ to Monroe’s Live tomorrow night from 10pm.
The band will perform a three-hour stage show, covering both the Bon Scott and Brian Johnson eras, complete with costumes, and high voltage renditions of such AC/DC classics as ‘Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap’, ‘Whole Lotta Rosie’, ‘Highway to Hell’ and ‘Thunderstruck’.

THE IRISH rockabilly trio The Screamin’ Bluecats are coming to play Monroe’s Live this Sunday at 10pm.
The band - Shiny Jimmy Fingers, Rockin’ Sammy Strongbow, and The Chief - have released an album, entitled Too Hot to Rock and Roll, featuring Waterboys’ saxophonist Anto Thistlethwaite, and a blistering mix of original tracks and rockabilly classics.

OIL PAINTINGS of the Cois Fharraige area in Connemara - from Bearna to Indreabhán - make up a new exhibition at NUI Galway.
The exhibition, entitled Siar, by Mayo’s Áine Uí Ghrádaigh and New Yorker Elaine Conneely, will be held in the university art gallery in the Quadrangle. The official opening is tomorrow at 7pm. HUGO HAMILTON, the author of acclaimed novel, The Speckled People, will read at this year’s Cúirt literature festival.
Hamilton - along with fellow Dubliner Roddy Doyle - will read from his new book, Every Single Minute, in the Town Hall Theatre on Thursday April 10 at 8.30pm. Published in February, the book details Hugo’s trip to Berlin with his friend Nuala O’Faolain, who passed away only 10 days after their holiday.

AFTER TWO barely noticed albums in the mid-noughties, Rhode Island folk-rock/indie-folk trio The Low Anthem struck creative gold with 2009’s Oh My God, Charlie Darwin.To hold their own and not be outdone by the considerable shadow cast by Fleet Foxes’ magical debut was some achievement, as was the band’s ability to balance the rabble rousing, beer’n’brawling side of folk, with the genre’s sensitive, introspective, side, showing in the process, an emphatic understanding and love for the heritage of this Hiberno-British-American strain of music.
