TEENAGERS WITH a story to tell and who think it might make a good script for a film, the basis for a novel, or idea for a video game are asked to get writing.

The competition is open to those aged between 13 and 18 years old. Entrants must write a 500 word idea for a story which could be for a feature film, short film, a documentary, book, or video game!

LEADING FRENCH poet Dominique Sorrente will read - in both French and English - for The Western Writers’ Centre at The Imperial Hotel, Eyre Square, on Wednesday at 8pm.

Sorrente was born in Nevers in 1953. In 1975 in Paris, he founded the journal Avalanche which he edited for four years with the novelist Michel Orcel. After studying political sciences and European studies in Paris and Bruges, he returned to Marseilles to devote himself to teaching.

After reading numerous half-hearted reviews, there was an expectation of disappointment walking into the theatre to see Liam Neeson’s newest flick Taken. Surprisingly, however, the let down never came and after 90 minutes of energy-packed excitement I found myself ready for more.

An interestingly original concept, Neeson plays Bryan, a former CIA spy who must rely on his old skills and contacts when his 17-year-old daughter Kim (Maggie Grace)is kidnapped by sex traffickers while on vacation with a friend in Paris, France.
