FOR CLOSE on 25 years Greg Dulli has been at the forefront of the Alternative American music scene, first as leader of The Afghan Whigs, then the Twilight Singers, and more recently as one half of The Gutter Twins with Mark Lanegan.
In all that time he never embarked on a solo tour - until this month. Last Friday Greg played the first of what will be a 29 city tour that will take in the US, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, and Belgium, with a show in New Orleans.

GEORGE SZIRTES, the Hungarian born, British based, poet, will read in the Gort Library, Gort, on Wednesday at 8pm.
George Szirtes was born in 1948 in Budapest, and moved to England as a refugee in 1956. He was brought up in London and his poems began appearing in national magazines in 1973. His first book, The Slant Door, was published in 1979.

3 PIECE Suite, a new show from Chrysalis Dance, featuring a triple bill of world premieres - Turn Out The Stars, The Other Way, and Connect For - will be performed in Galway this month.
3 Piece Suite will be performed on Monday October 25 at 8pm in the Town Hall Theatre. It is choreographed by Judith Sibley, Tanya McCrory, and Leighton Morrison. It features music by Jesse Ronneau, Charles Aznavour, and Gabriel Yared and dancers from Ireland, Britain, Italy, and Norway.

With a tired sigh I thought ‘oh no, not another Katherine Heigl rom-com’ but to my surprise, I really enjoyed this movie which not only had plenty of hilarious comedy scenes but also included some poignant moments where the question of true friendship, and love, is explored.
