GEARBOX, THE Galway classic rock quartet, and winners of the annual NUIG band competition WITLESS 2012, play The Cellar Bar tonight at 9.30pm.
The band’s influences are Thin Lizzy, Pearl Jam, Rory Gallagher, Deep Purple, and AC/DC. They are also currently working on releasing an EP of original material, together with a video for their song ‘Burnout’.

Playing are Kildare’s King Modo who create an experimental, funky sound. Their influences include John Martyn, Led Zeppelin, and Joni Mitchell. They have released one album to date.

GET UP, Stand up, the weekly stand up comedy open mic night at Garvey’s Hotel and Bar, Eyre Square, takes place tonight from 9.30pm.
The show is open to the public and comedians, and admission is free. Every week there is a lively crowd and a load of up and coming comedians performing. Each comedian is allowed seven to eight minutes for his/her set.

ONLY A couple of weeks remain until the curtain rises on the epic DruidMurphy cycle and the company is in the thick of technical rehearsals at the Town Hall, preparing for what is sure to be a highlight of the theatrical year.
While much attention may focus on the input of playwright, director and actors, the contribution of the design team should not be underestimated. A key member of the DruidMurphy design team is costume designer Joan O’Clery, twice winner of Costume Designer of the Year in The Irish Times Theatre Awards.
