Kenneth Webb - the timeless artist

KENNETH WEBB first walked into Kenny’s on High Street in 1953, starting a partnership which has endured between artist and gallery for 60 years.

To mark this association, the Kenny Gallery, Liosbán, will host the exhibition Webb - Timeless, which opens tomorrow at 6pm. The guest speaker will be Kathleen Villiers-Tuthill.

THE FLIRT FM Sessions returns to Monroes Live tonight from 10pm with Franko Franko, Ka Tet, and Audio Fires.

Franko Franko is a Dublin-based synth-pop outfit who combine sun-drenched sixties harmonies with modern electronic sensibilities. Galway trio Ka Tet unleash the kind of chunky riffs on their guitars that has seen them compared with Queens of the Stone Age; Kilkenny’s Audio Fires (pictured above) cite their influences as Band of Skulls, Kings Of Leon, and The Vaccines.

AS I write, shrill shrieks and grunts James Brown would be envious of are busting out of the speakers from my 45rpm copy of ‘I’m A Man’. Indeed the artist’s old nickname ‘Little JB’ comes from his physical and vocal resemblance to Brown. However this is unmistakably Lee Fields, a very different talent.
