Adrien Sourdot
Madame Pompom And The Chthonians, the debut exhibition of French artist Adrien Sourdot opens in the Galway City Library tomorrow. The Madame Pompom section features oil, pastel, ink, and watercolour works of ‘accidental figures’. The Chthonians features oil, acrylic, and plaster works. The official opening is on Friday January 15 at 8pm. It then runs until January 31.

However one of the more unusual places has to be the offices of Orla Murray Financial Services which is hostomg SMARTART 101 – Social Modern Art Relevant Today and Real Tomorrow for the last four weeks. This vast body of uber modern work produced by Irish artist Raymond Burrows began over five years ago and SMARTART 101 is the culmination of his creative efforts shown as a whole. The individual elements in Ray’s work span from the year he was born to the present day. Each piece runs with its own narrative, resonating on many levels of interpretation yet all the work assimilates to form a whole.

ONE HUNDRED of the best photographs from the LookWest.ie and Pix.ie Volvo Ocean Race Festival Photo Competition will be exhibited for the weekend from tomorrow until Sunday at Merchants Hall, 1 Merchants Road. Admission is free and open to the public from 10am to 6pm each day.
The photo competition, sponsored by the Western Development Commission (WDC) and run in conjunction with photo sharing website Pix.ie, took place over the two weeks of the Volvo Ocean Race Festival and smashed the previous record of uploaded photos from an Irish event. The photo exhibition is being staged by the WDC in collaboration with Let’s Do It Galway.
