An Taibhdhearc are holding auditions for their next production Boicíní Bhóthar Kilburn, the Irish language version of Jimmy Murphy’s The Kings of Kilburn Highroad which has been translated by Micheál Ó Conghaile and will be directed by the talented Lara Campbell.

THE GUH Arts Trust is very proud to present a joint exhibition by artists John Lee and Triona Mac Giolla Rí which opens at University Hospital Galway on Friday August 27th at 6.00pm. The exhibition will be officially launched by Dr Dom Colbert.
John Lee is an Irish born artist. Coming from a strong medical background, figurative painting was something very important to him. John says, “My paintings are in many ways classical and in some ways Kitsch in style, using the theory that the person is the indirect form of an icon. A singular figure is typical of my paintings, as is strong use of light from dark”.

EVERYONE HAS a story, and Loose Lips offer a stage and a microphone to members of the audience who can tell their story, provided it is true, unscripted and doesn’t take longer than five minutes.
The event is hosted by Mags Treanor and special guests, and each month’s session is inspired by a different theme. The story slam takes place every last Wednesday of the month, this month that date is August 25, and the slam is limited to 10 stories.

This autumn Susan Millar DuMars will give support, instruction and feedback to students who are interested in writing fiction, short stories, novels and poetry.
The course takes place one evening per week on Wednesdays for seven weeks from 7pm until 9pm. The course commences on Wednesday, September 29th. Susan holds an MA in writing from the University of San Francisco. Her poems and short stories have been published extensively in the US, the UK and Ireland.
