Renowned pastel artist to give workshop

WELL KNOWN British pastel artist Ann Wilkinson is to give a five day workshop in the Galway Arts Centre from September 3 to 7. This is a unique opportunity for aspiring and working artists to learn from an artist and teacher of such a high calibre. Wilkinson is primarily a pastel artist who works on an acrylic base, her favourite subjects being figure composition and still life. More recently, she has worked on seascapes in oils, which she has shown at the Royal Society of Marine Artists Exhibition in Britain.

The workshop will run from 10.30am until 5pm each day, and will cost €195 per person – places are limited. Participants can work in pastel or oils.

Con Tempo go on tour

San Francisco Bay area artists at 126

MYTHOLOGIES, THE work of seven emerging contemporary San Francisco Bay area artists will be on display at 126, the artist-run gallery on Queen Street until September 19.

126 presents the San Francisco Bay area artists as part of an exchange exhibition with Blankspace Gallery in Oakland, California. Each exhibiting artist created works that deal with personal, historical and modern mythologies, some which are quintessentially American, others more universal. Works include video, installation, sculpture, works on paper, painting, and ceramics. The artists featured are: Gina Tuzzi, Samara Halperin, Brian Caraway, Lena Reynoso, Crystal Morey, Sam Lopes, and Renée Gertler.
